Gather up family and friends and drop by Place des Arts for its free Family Day for the Holidays: A Lantern Affair. This inter-cultural celebration offers lantern making workshops inspired by four of the main cultural groups that populate Coquitlam: European, Korean, Iranian and Chinese. Live performances by Place des Arts students will shine a spotlight on the power of light as it is reflected in each of these cultures, and performance artist Gerardo Avila will appear as the Sun God to lead a lantern ceremony. A multi-cultural tea salon provides an opportunity for folks to relax and meet others over a warm cup of tea, while at neighbouring Mackin House, a variety of seasonal heritage activities will get you into the holiday spirit. Admission is free; all ages welcome!
