The Richmond Art Gallery and dumb instrument Dance are pleased to present An Evening of Art and Dance. The event will feature two dances that respond to the Gallery's current exhibition by visual artist Lyse Lemieux. With her company dumb instrument Dance, Ziyian Kwan choreographs, performs site-specific installations, and commissions the work of other artists. In response to Lyse Lemieux’s exhibit, Ziyian will perform an improvised score in dialogue with the specific works in the gallery spaces. She has also choreographed for dancer Vanessa Goodman, a dance that considers the exhibit in Gallery Three. Both performances will be accompanied by musician and award-winning composer Stefan Smulovitz on viola. The performance will be followed by a panel discussion with Ziyian Kwan and exhibiting artist Lyse Lemieux, moderated by RAG Curator Nan Capogna. Kwan and Lemieux will discuss their inspiration for this collaboration. This free event is sponsored in part by Canada Council for the Arts.
