Update: Hosni Mubarak not stepping down as Egypt’s president

It could be the day that Egyptian pro-democracy protesters and their supporters have been waiting for.

NBC News and Channel 4 News are reporting that Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak will step down tonight (February 10).

Mubarak is expected to announce his resignation in a televised address.

Omar Suleiman, the newly appointed vice president and former intelligence chief, would then be handed the reins.

According to NBC, General Hassan al-Roueini told thousands of protesters in Tahrir Square, "All your demands will be met today."

Hossam Badrawi, secretary general of Egypt's ruling NDP party, talks to Channel 4 News.

Exile would insure that he doesn't rule by proxy. And Suleiman should also go: it's bad luck for a country to be run by a former head of intel.
