      CONCERTS

      The Bacardi Boohaha features music by DJ Flipout and prizes for best costume. Held at the Commodore Ballroom.

      Nashville singer-songwriter Natalie Prass tours in support of debut self-titled release. Held at the Biltmore Cabaret.

      Los Angeles-based soul collective the Internet tours in support of latest release Ego Death at Alexander Gastown.

      Guitarist Carlo Marchione performs a solo recital at Pyatt Hall.

      A Halloween party at the WISE Hall features music by the Sumner Brothers, Rawk Löbster, Punkaoke, and Devil in the Wood Shack.

      The Rickshaw Theatre hosts a Halloween party featuring an interactive DJ, dance, theatre, and music by Space Laces, Pretty Much?!, Kermode, Reflektor, and Caturday Crew.

      The Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre presents a concert examining the musical history of Cuba through performances by Israel Berriel, Pablo Cárdenas, Peter Dowse, Miguelito Valdés, Danay Sinclair, Paul Bray, Mario Allende, Ilhan Saferali, Salvador Ferreras, and Danais Yera Guerra. Held at the Vancouver Playhouse.

      Haunted Circus features music by Season to Attack, Ghost Body, Mausiki, and Quartered. Held at the Hindenburg.

      Halloween at the Waldorf features music by Nick Bike, Abasi, Bokeh, Glyn, Jon Lee, Matt Hudolin, Midnight Vulture, Jesse Hills, Sam Demoe, Mateo, Jessica G, Juan Ton, Perkulator, and Alex Mei. Held at At the Waldorf.

      Death by DJ features a Hula-Hoop dance off, a costume contest, and music by Michael Fraser and the Black Dog String Quartet, AM Terror and Break Monster, and 44-Minute Salad. Held at the Grandview Legion.

      Highlights of the Haunting on Hastings 2 include cash bars, prizes for best costume, and music by DJs Citrus, EPQE, Sean Evans, Branzei, and Dips. Held at the Korean Cultural Centre.

      Halloween Hootenanny features music by 100 Proof, the Staggers & Jaggs, the Milk Pipes, and the Eleven Twelves. Held at the Railway Club.

       

      BENEFITS

      The Paws & Pumpkins Halloween Gala features silent and live auctions, dinner, and dancing. Held at the Pacific Gateway Hotel.

       

      ET CETERA

      The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts hosts a fully realized live show based on the popular podcast Welcome to Night Vale.

      Forbidden Vancouver presents a spooky guided tour of Gastown's very dark, very real history. Held in Gastown.

      Annual Halloween event Potter's House of Horrors features two haunted houses. Held at Potter's Farm & Nursery, Inc.

      Adult themed Halloween event Fright Nights (pictured above) features seven haunted houses. Held at Playland.

      The Vancouver Trolley Company and Vancouver Police Museum present an evening of murderous tales and infamous Vancouver ghost stories. Held at Canada Place.

      The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden hosts Judge Dee's Chinatown Haunted House.

       

      KIDS' STUFF

      The Stanley Park Halloween Ghost Train takes riders on a journey through a world populated with classic horror characters. Held at the Stanley Park Miniature Train.

      At the Fort Langley National Historic Site of Canada, kids can make a craft, visit the spooky servants' quarters, take in the music of Bobs and Lolo, and get a pumpkin-shaped airbrush tattoo.

      See some creepy creatures and play with some Halloween-themed hands-on science activities at Science Spooktacular. Held at SFU Burnaby.

       

      TAKE ACTION

      Paulette Regan will speak on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of which she was a part. Held at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver.

       

      COMEDY

      The Vancouver TheatreSports League presents an evening of Halloween-themed comedy by two costumed improvisers. Held at the Improv Centre.

       

      ARTS ET CETERA

      At the Zimbabwe Gecko Society's African Art Sale, you can buy handmade art created by Zimbabwean artists. Held at Ocean Park Community Hall.

      Shaun Dacey leads a tour of current exhibitions at the Contemporary Art Gallery.

       

      LITERARY EVENTS

      At Wayzgoose, local presses and book artists will showcase their work at the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch.

       

      MOVIES

      At various Metro Vancouver Cineplex theatres, Wager's early operatic masterpiece Tannhäuser will screen live from the Met.

      The Cinematheque hosts the return of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical.

      The SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts hosts a screening of films by Bud Osborn,  the poet laureate of the Downtown Eastside.

      The Vancity Theatre screens director John Carpenter's 1988 horror flick They Live.
