Vancouver police close Beatty Street to deal with possible explosive device
Vancouver police are dealing with a possible explosive device on Beatty Street between Georgia and Dunsmuir.
The news was first reported on Twitter by @ScanBC, an account that monitors law-enforcement communication.

Since then, local media have arrived on the scene and posted photographs of officers approaching a pickup truck.

The Vancouver Police Department is asking the public to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.
At the time of writing, SkyTrain service moving through the nearby Stadium-Chinatown station was not affected by the incident.

Update: Just before 11 a.m., police sent a message to media saying the device was not explosive and that Beattey Street was once again to traffic.
"Careful examination by members of the VPD Explosive Disposal Team has found the suspicious item is not a danger to the public," it reads.
