      Enjoy a barbecue dinner served al fresco on the patio and take in music by Vancouver jazz sensation Jaclyn Guillou. Held at Evergreen Cultural Centre.

      The B.C. Lions take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Canadian Football League action. Held at B.C. Place Stadium.

      The Rugged Maniac 5k Obstacle Race features 25 obstacles and a party with mechanical bulls, adult bounce houses, games, and dancing. Held at Cloverdale Fairgrounds Agriplex.

       

      COMEDY

      Sketch-comedy troupe Proud of You presents a show about hotels and motels, with guests Marta Wesselhoff and Jordan Potter. Held at the Little Mountain Gallery.

      Protest Comedy features performances by Simon King, Dylan Rhymer, Richard Thompson, Katrina Bennett, and host Graham Clark at the Rickshaw Theatre.

      At Random Encounter Table, comedians create cinematic stories through random rolls of the dice. Held at Havana Theatre.

       

      ARTS ET CETERA

      The second annual Burnaby Summer Arts Festival features an artisan market, music and entertainment, a live painting tournament, a summer theatre performance, a hands-on workshop for kids, visual-art exhibits and demos, and face painting. Held at Deer Lake Gallery.

      SFU's Paul Budra delivers an in-depth exploration of Shakespeare's play Pericles, going beyond the story to explore the Bard's inspirations and influences. Held at Vanier Park.

      Browse the studios, ask questions, and purchase one-of-a-kind art pieces at the 13th Annual New West Culture Crawl. Held at various New Westminster venues.

      THEATRE

      Studio 504 hosts Hipstory: I'd Tell You, But You've Probably Never Heard Of It, director Bronwen Marsden's play about hipsters.

      Outdoor Shakespeare festival Bard on the Beach hosts showings of Romeo and Juliet and Pericles at Vanier Park.
