I live immediately adjacent to a public high school, and am loving that the street is so quiet/free of cars and pedestrians. Ahhhhh.... :)

I bike to work. I bike past a star bucks, a McDonalds, and a school. Parents dropping their kids off are the most distracted drivers I see on my route. Not the guy jonesing for a caffine fix. Not the guy holding an entire meal and steering with his knees. Its the parents who dont look, fight for a place to stop, dont signal, pull u-turns, stop and start.
Just let your kid commute. They are in high school.
Bus Drivers Strike

I totally get where you're coming from. Years ago the bus drivers went on strike, so there were no buses on the streets and it was so great.
I understand

I get that you are enjoying your peace & I totally understand that but our kids need to get back to High School because this has gone on for too long!
By the way to Sam I know what you mean...when my kids were in Elementary School I was a parent volunteer on the parking committee & the same stupid parents in their huge SUV 's would u-turn / park in no parking/ speed constantly. It gets pretty frustrating when you see the same parents every single day breaking the traffic rules. It actually gets very heated out there & once another parent was assaulted by a repeat offender & cops were brought in to deal with the assault.
There are those of us who really tried to educate the "bad" ones but unfortunately you just can't fix stupid.
The absolute worst part for me was knowing that most of the people who drove carelessly lived 3 blocks from the school & their kids could easily walk to school. No surprise we have childhood obesity now with all the chaffeurring going on.
*sigh*
Me?

I want them to go back to work so the fucking morons who honk their support of the teachers in a residential area will go away.
