really tough decision...

My ex-husband continues to drop our former family dog on my doorstep. He went out and bought a new dog and now no longer wants this one. I love our dog, but Im in a pet free apartment and can't afford to find a home in the needed neighbourhood that allows dogs. He knows this but keeps doing this to me just to torture me. (Long history of that) I have no option now but to call the SPCA. I'm broken over this, and my children will never forgive me..but I can't keep him, nor can I afford him and my two children with zero child support from deadbeat dad. I am just devastated tonight, and I want to run far far away with my children....(but won't) Thanks for listening..

What an asshole. Sorry you have to deal with this. The spca will find your pup a good home. It's heartbreaking.... good luck to you.

No matter how he feels about you, he shouldn't be do eager to dump the dog. Your kids will hate him and probably never forgive him.

Please look at other options before taking the dog to the SPCA. Surely you must have a friend or relative who would be willing to help? Post something on social media and see. People love animals and can be relied up on to show their goodness for these types of causes.

sounds like a real jerk. Do you children have any school friends or relatives that might be able to have a dog? At least you would know where it is. Maybe advertise through the school or preschool. Also, how does your ex afford a dog if he can't afford to give $ to his kids? What a loser. I wish you all the best (big hug).

Why don't you put your damn foot down, like a grown up!! I'm so happy to hear this gem of a human can just discard a sentient being at the drop of a hat, what a man! *SARCASM. Tell this assh*le what you've told us. Tell him that he has doomed this beloved pet to a cage where it will be terrified and confused until it is adopted by a stranger, if it's lucky. Tell him the odds of someone adopting a mature dog over a pup is pretty much guaranteeing his 'beloved' dogs death!
