breaks my heart

When everything my parents ask me for help, like for the internet. I can't help you. Because you don't make sense, everything you say comes out confusing and get emotional. Especially when they say" oh, but you help so and so with this and you had patience with them." It's different. Every single time. It's not my fault but at the same time, maybe I can lower my voice and stop being a b****.

Providing help (especially technical) for family or friends is tough. Requires far more patience and grace than for strangers.

If you go in with the expectation that it will likely be problematic and demanding, and pace yourself accordingly, you may be more effective and less frustrated.

What you describe is very normal, in my experience. Good luck.

Work with them, not for them

Yeah, parents can be supremely frustrating for some of us. Then we get upset with ourselves for being frustrated in the first place.

But if you can help others with their computers / Internet, whatever, then you really should try to help your folks.

But look at it as working with them to solve a problem together, not something you're doing for them.

Also consider that you're saving them from the many-fold risks of insecure Internet operations.

Build some camaraderie and bond over the experience(s).

Good luck.
