friends

I have a best friend that I've been close with since high school. He was the only guy that I could relate to out of anybody in my grade. Funny, straightforward and definitely not superficial, flakey or snobby. We used to hang out twice a month but now we see each other about every six months because he's married and has a little girl. And with family life comes commitments and responsibilities. Even whenever we get the chance to hang, it's like we've never our old groove. We talked about this crazy housing situation and nothing's written in stone, but my friend might possibly leave the lower mainland and relocate up north in a couple of years. My emotions are mixed about that. The thought of seeing him go saddens me. Sure, I'd miss him a whole lot, but on the other hand I don't blame him for wanting to leave this city because he needs to put himself and his family ahead. Whatever road he takes and as long as he's happy I totally salute him.

It's called life. People marry, have children then instantly their lives change forever. Your friend doesn't like you any less, but he's just got so many new responsibilities so now you've been downgraded a few notches.

It's just life.
