Inconsiderate roommate
posted June 15th, 2017 at 10:54 PM
I have to be up at 5 am every day for work and my roommate stays up until about 12 am or later talking and laughing very loudly on the phone or has the tv up so loud even ear plugs don't help it's driving me insane. It's right outside my bedroom door. I've asked politely more than once now and I hate being that annoying roommate asking someone to be quiet but getting 5 hours of sleep or less is really fucking with my well being. Thinking of moving. They clearly don't care or are oblivious that they're being a douchebag.

Be really loud at 5am.
Impolite people usually don't respond to politeness.

Also, you said "I hate being that annoying roommate asking someone to be quiet..." - ?????- You think that YOU are the annoying one !!?
I'm going to assume that you're a female who was raised to be polite and "nice", and unfortunately, unassertive. You have to be willing to communicate DIRECTLY and VERY CLEARLY about YOUR NEEDS in this situation. If that doesn't get through to them, then they obviously don't give a damn about how you feel.
Just MOVE. You can do so much better. Really. Good luck.
Find another roommate with your same schedule

or live on your own. I'm up at 4 for work, I would not be able to function if I had to deal with living with a night owl. I lived with someone for a long time trying to make the schedules work, but eventually just gave up on that. Now that I don't constantly have my sleep interrupted at all hours it's a huge improvement to my health, I didn't realize how sleep deprived I really was. Move for your health.

Dude. You have got to move into your own place. It's the only solution. Don't find another roommate because history will just repeat itself. Just do it. I have now...since summer 2003. I also poop with the door open.

Find a place on your own. This kind of crap is exactly why I don't put up with roomates anymore, and never will again.
Sounds like
