This year’s John Howes Lecture, "The Social and Political Lives of Cherry Blossoms," will explore symbolic communication as seen in Japan’s cherry blossom. On November 22nd, guest speaker Dr. Emiko Ohnuki-Tierney will examine the many, often contradictory, meanings and ethos assigned to cherry blossoms, which have remained to be one of the most cherished flowers for the Japanese.
