Times are a-changin' for Dylan Thomas

Taking his ramblin’ folk-rock vibe to the next level, Dylan Thomas is leaving Vancouver for the open road. The singer-songwriter is heading for Toronto with nothing but his girlfriend, his guitar, and some tunes penned under his solo banner, the Dylan Thomas Band.

“I’m getting a little too comfortable here. I’m tired of doing the same thing all the time and not really pushing myself musically,” Thomas told the Straight, adding, “It’s hard to find people here that are willing to tour a lot and give up the comforts of Vancouver.”

Though he’s leaving his back-up band, the Dire Wolves, behind, there will be one last hurrah at Pat’s Pub tomorrow (October 1), which also serves as a release party for the Dylan Thomas Band’s new self-titled CD. Following the gig, Thomas heads out to Hogtown in a freshly tuned-up 1986 Toyota minivan he picked up for 800 bucks. Or at least, that’s the plan. “I don’t know if it’ll make it, but it’s all I’ve got,” he said with a snicker.
