CITR radio has produced its first official compilation album

There’s a pretty neat item on the horizon for vinyl collectors. CiTR radio has produced its first official compilation, The CiTR Pop Alliance Compilation, partnering with Mint Records. The album features Shane Turner Overdrive, fanshaw, and unreleased tracks from Apollo Ghosts, Slam Dunk, Role Mach, Kellarissa, Fine Mist, No Kids “with Rose Melberg”, My Friend Wallis, Watermelon, and Spring Break.

CiTR’s annual Fundrive fundraiser wraps up today (November 25), but Duncan’s Donuts host Duncan McHugh, who curated the record, told the Straight that the university radio station is still taking pledges of $101.90 or more. That’s what it takes to make this snapshot of Vancouver’s indie-music scene yours.

“The generosity of Mint Records, that’s why this is happening,” McHugh explained about the release, adding that mastering and artwork were also supplied for free. “CiTR just came out of a debt situation and we don’t have the money for these flights of fancy quite yet.” The album goes to retail in early 2011, but you’ll need to act fast: McHugh said there will only be a precious 100 copies available.
