Broken Sex Doll at the York

In the near future of Broken Sex Doll, people can upload their sensory experiences online and others can download them—for a price. So, if you can upload a fantastically orgasmic sexual encounter, you’ve got a big seller on your hands. Daryl, the hero of Broken Sex Doll, becomes a hit when he starts flogging a session with Ginger 5000, a robot that has advanced pleasure hardware—in other words, a magic vagina. But King, Ginger’s ex-boyfriend, is jealous and he plots their downfall.

With an often witty book by Andy Thompson and clever music by Anton Lipovetsky, Broken Sex Doll was a hit when it premiered at the Cultch’s Historic Theatre last year, and it’s coming back to the York from next Wednesday (November 12) to November 22.

Benjamin Elliot, who is one of the best comic actors in town, has already been nominated for a Jessie Richardson Theatre award for his work as Daryl. He’s back in a cast that also includes the talented Greg Armstrong-Morris.
