People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has brought another protest/media spectacle to town.

Today (July 9), PETA activists painted to look like crocodiles lay in a pool of fake blood outside the Hermès store in downtown Vancouver.

Behind them stood a banner stating: "Hermès: Accessories to Murder".

PETA says its investigation of a Hermès supplier found "mistreatment of alligators on a filthy Texas farm".

"Apart from the tens of thousands of dollars spent on the fashion accessory sold by French retailer Hermes, thousands of crocodiles and alligators are killed each year to supply the company with skins used to make some Birkins, along with high-end wallets, belts, watchbands and shoes," reads a CBS News story about the investigation.

Well, "spectacle" was the right word. PETA has a track record of KILLING over 90% of the animals it rescues. So if there was ever a case of hypocrisy, they are it. Don't believe me, check out the no-kill movement and how much crap they have gotten from PETA. Check out PETA's reports to the city commission in Roanoke, Virginia (their headquarters). It's really easy to put on theatrical displays designed to alarm the public without any real facts being put forth. I challenge all these "activists" to look behind their own doors before getting on their high horse and telling the rest of the world how to live.
