Incompetance

My coworker is in her mid-20s, working her first job. And it really shows in her lack of work ethic, let alone her abilities. While none of the things she does really effects my work (other than having to repeat instructions frequently) it BUGS me. So many qualified people would love to have a professional entry level job like hers (incidentally she was hired because she knows people), but she doesn't seem to take it seriously. Actual work aside, I can't understand how daily lateness for the 2 months she's worked there hasn't gotten her dismissed. Our bosses are a little too tolerant. She's a nice person, would be fun to have at parties but yeah.

....and "none of the things she does really AFFECTS my work..."
Not "effects."

I'm guessing she's hot? That will only last so long...

good one.

@ op. It's Vancouver, most likely the boss is nailing the employee on the side. I would say over 70% of my male bosses have all had a younger girl on a string to avoid going home to their wife.

Generally speaking...

... I don't like working with 20-year olds, so I understand your frustration. I have always preferred to work with older people who are well experienced and who can teach you a thing or two.

No nailing going on. In our department all the bosses are female.

@ Generally speaking. At 20 at least never having a real job is forgiveable. She's 25.

jobs are few and far between nowadays, and most people go to university, so not having had a real job at age 25 isn't that weird.

this post also wreaks of sexism and ageism, even the "she'd be fun to party with line" is reductive as hell.
