News you can use: Elio Volpe is officially opening on March 14. That’s just two days away!

The new concept, little sister to beloved Mount Pleasant restaurant Savio Volpe, was first announced back in September 2023, and now it is finally ready to welcome its first guests.

Formerly a mechanic shop, the Elio Volpe space at 540 West 17th Avenue (at Cambie Street) will undoubtedly have transformed into a stunning aesthetic space. Designed by Ste Marie Studio (responsible for just about every nice-looking restaurant in town), the interior promises residential-inspired furniture, a beachy colour palette, and soft lighting.

As for the food, expect Italian bites such as yellowfin tuna and scallop crudo with jalapeno and gooseberry; roasted whole branzino with lemon; and, of course, plenty of fresh pasta and pizza.

“Presentation always takes a back seat to product integrity and provenance,” says Phil Scarfone, culinary director for the Banda Volpi team behind Savio (along with La Tana and Pepino’s), in a statement. “We’re showcasing the local bounty while also scouring the globe for premium ingredients.”

Cambie Village is about to get a heck of a lot tastier.
