Vancouver’s Holt Renfrew (737 Dunsmuir Street) has unveiled the latest completed section of its multi-phase overhaul: a massive—and very swanky—personal shopping area dubbed The Apartment.

Situated over two floors in the southeast wing of the shop, which formerly housed company offices, the department includes four personal fitting rooms, where clothing and accessories are curated in advance for customers; separate living and dining areas; two kitchenettes; and a powder room. A wraparound outdoor patio is also accessible through the space, where guests may enjoy food and beverages delivered directly from the Holts Café—or from anywhere else in the city they please.

The Apartment is available by appointment for the store’s top clients and for individuals who may require heightened privacy. It may also be reserved for groups who are shopping together or celebrating a special occasion. Walk-ins are also permitted depending on stylists’ schedules. Use of the space—and service with one of the store’s personal stylists—is complimentary.

“I don’t want it to be so aspirational that our regular customers don’t seize the opportunity and take of advantage of this beautiful space,” said Barbara Wolfson, Holt Renfrew’s vice president of store experience, during a media preview of the Apartment.

One-off events such as fine jewellery trunk shows will also take place in the Apartment. In addition to the suites available there, Holt Renfrew has also launched five personal shopping rooms across its women’s and men’s departments.

The personal shopping enclave is the third of its kind in Canada, with Holt Renfrew’s two Toronto-area locations also boasting the suites. The Apartment is part of a larger renovation at the Vancouver flagship, which has been ongoing since spring 2016.

Last fall, it opened a new 40,000-square-foot men’s department and an in-house restaurant. In February, a redesigned women’s shoe hall, complete with the city’s second Ladurée stop, was unveiled.

A revamped womenswear area and the repositioning and expansion of the beauty hall are expected to be completed this summer. Check out some images of the Apartment below.
