Mark Your Calendar: Band Together to benefit BC Children’s Hospital at the Rickshaw
Stop and think for a second about the way the members of Vancouver’s music community are not only there for each other, but always willing to rally for a good cause.
For example, over the course of its 15-year run, the annual Christmas-season blowout known as Keithmas has raised close to $150,000 for the Great Vancouver Food Bank.
Celebrating its ninth year, this weekend’s sold-out Bowie Ball—which celebrates the life and legacy of the Thin White Duke—benefits the BC Cancer Foundation at the fabulous Rickshaw Theatre.
Looking forward a week and a bit, January 20 sees the Rickshaw playing host to Band Together, a night which will serve as a fundraiser for BC Children’s Hospital.
Headlining the evening are funk-prog genre benders Brass Camel and pure pop alchemists Bend Sinister. On the under card is Uncle Strut, Spendo, Tess Anderson, and Bleako’s Nuclear Disco.
Tickets are $25, which, if our high-school math serves us correctly, works out to something like $4.16 per band.
You know what $4.16 gets you these days? Definitely not a grande hazelnut latte at Starbucks. Or even a Big Mac at McDonald’s.
Maybe a bag of Cheetos and a Dr. Pepper at the 7-Eleven if you’re lucky. Except that benefits no one but Japanese Seven & i Holdings.
Band Together on the other hand? BC Children’s Hospital, and the members of Vancouver’s ever-dedicated music community, thank you in advance.
