The Dance Centre is celebrating International Dance Day with a full schedule of digital programming on April 29.
Open Rehearsal (11 am-noon, Pacific time). Dancers from the Performance Research Project share work in progress choreographed by director Lesley Telford and Heather Myers.
Boxes and Labels (noon-1 pm). Discussion exploring ideas of the traditional and contemporary in dance with TomoeArts' Colleen Lanki (Canada), Kavya Iyer Ramalingam (France/India), and Pamela Santana (Peru).
Dance Café (1-4 pm). An informal sharing of work by contemporary dance artists and choreographers co-curated by Amber Funk Barton and Kaia Shukin, featuring Shana Wolfe, Lisa Gelley with Lily Yuriko Tamoto, Sammy Chien, and Jee Lam.
Micro-Commissions (5 pm). Six short dance films from Arely Santana, Ashvini Sundaram, Clala Dance Project/Tomoyo Yamada, Loscil + Action at a Distance, Meagan O’Shea/Stand Up Dance, and Xin Hui Ong.
