Mark Your Calendar: “Elf: The Musical” takes over the Stanley theatre

Is it even the holiday season if you haven’t yelled, “Santa! I know him! I know him!” at least once?

The movie—nay, the *film*—Elf is a classic for a reason. With so many memorable lines and scenes that are laugh-out-loud ridiculous, it’s comedy gold wrapped up in twinkling lights and tinsel.

Now, imagine all that fun, played out right before your eyes, on the stage—with musical numbers. Elf: The Musical is taking over the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage on South Granville starting November 2, and running all the way until the end of December. Which gives the good people of our city lots of chances to grab tickets and witness Buddy the elf (played by Andrew McNee) traipse his way (awkwardly, adorably, hilariously) into the hearts of his human family members.

Produced by the Arts Club in collaboration with Music Theatre International, Elf: The Musical has a script by Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone), a score by Matthew Sklar (The Wedding Singer), and song lyrics by Chad Beguelin (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway). It’s shown in London’s famed West End, as well as on Broadway.

Not bad for a little (big) elf from the North Pole.
