For one day a year, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) and the VSO School of Music bring music to the city of Vancouver with a unique event: 100 free concerts across 12 stages, all happening simultaneously.

From 10am to 10pm, various artists from various musical genres will showcase their talents throughout the downtown area and on one YVR airport stage. At 8pm, a free concert from the VSO, under the leadership of music director Otto Tausk, will close out the festivities at the Orpheum.

“Here at the VSO and VSO School of Music, we believe that the power of music should be a vital part of everyone’s daily life and we’re working to make music accessible to everyone in the community,” shares Angela Elster, President & CEO of the VSO and VSO School of Music in a statement. “Day of Music is the VSO’s largest community engagement event of the year, employing hundreds of local musicians, showcasing the greatest variety of genres, and reaching over 25,000 members of the community in a single day.”

For those outside city limits who want to participate in the programming, online workshops and digital performances will be available, too.
