      The Vancouver Folk Music Festival fall concert season kicks off with Rose Cousins at CBC Studio 700 (700 Hamilton Street) on October 4.

      Cousins was born in Prince Edward Island and is based out of Halifax. The folk-pop singer-songwriter won the Juno Award for best Solo Roots & Traditional Album of the Year in 2013 with her 2012 album, We have Made A Spark. She also was awarded two Canadian Folk Music Awards, three PEI Music Awards, and a Polaris Prize nomination.

      Joining Cousins on stage is 21-year-old Scottish folk muisican Rachel Sermanni. Doors to the show on October 4 open at 7 p.m. and performances start at 8 p.m.

      Tickets are $20 plus a $2 service charge per order, and can be purchased online, by calling 604-602-9798, or in person at Highlife Records (1317 Commercial Drive) and Zulu Records (1972 West 4th Avenue).

      Listening right now to Rose on KPFK in Los Angeles. She has a beautiful voice. When is she next performing in LA?
