      Sad news to report today.

Chris Tsangarides–who produced such albums as Thin Lizzy’s Thunder and Lightning, Gary Moore’s Back on the Streets, and the Tragically Hip’s Fully Completely–died of heart failure today after battling pneumonia.

      He was only 61.

Tsangarides, who specialized in hard rock, had also worked on albums by Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tygers of Pan Tang, Anvil, Girlschool, Helloween, and Concrete Blonde, to name a few.

Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi expressed his feelings on Tsangarides’ death on his Facebook page:

“I’m so saddened to hear of the passing of the Producer Chris Tsangarides – he has been a part of my life since the 70s when he worked as tape operator on the Sabbath album Sabotage and he’s worked with me on lots of other albums and stuff. What a lovely bloke he was and we always got on really well and had a great laugh too! He’ll be sadly missed. RIP my friend.”
