Okay, admittedly we're hanging this one on something flimsy. But sometimes, when you're desperate, you take whatever fleck of hope that you're given.

After messily imploding in 2012 in the aftermath of a chaotic Vancouver show, reforming in the middle of last decade, and then announcing a surprise and indefinite hiatus in the summer of 2024, Ween has offered a sign that the Boognish is ready to rise again.

Eight hours ago, the band's official Facebook page posted something with the potential to be every bit as obscenely beautiful as David Sanborn's saxophone solo on "Your Party". Ween fans got a mere five words. But those five words were enough to offer hope that 2026 will—despite the world looking like a dumpster fire on a daily basis—soon be a better time.

Here's what we got, accompanied by a black-and-white rendering of the mighty Boognish: "Is this thing on, mang?"

The translation of that to Ween fans who've spent the past two years convinced that it was finally all over? Easy. Think something along the lines of "Testing, one-two-three. We're back."

Predictably, the reaction on Facebook was rapturous, even though what we saw might have been someone randomly wondering about the status of a gourmet popcorn maker, Stuart Hughes Prestige HD Supreme Rose Edition TV, or Jaxxx Hammer 2.0 Multifunction Rechargeable Sex Machine with four vibration patterns and two rhythmic speeds.

Here's a selection of the nearly 2,0000 reactions and counting:

      • "A message from Sancho via the Fat Man?" - James Engel
      • "Pls I feel like I’m having a heart attack" - Stephanie Gordon
      • "You bring the razor blades, I’ll bring the speed!" - Coleman Morris-Goodrick
      • "Greyhound bus to chocolate town" - Leah Taylor

As for us, holy fuck, to once again have the chance to drop three tabs of brown acid, get slowly wasted really quickly on a fifth of Jose Cuervo, and be in the front row for "Buenos Tardes Amigo" is to dare to dream.

Please Deaner, please Gener, make it so. Because we here at the Straight are speaking for everyone when we say, "I'm trippin', trippin', writhin' and squealin', pukin'/Looking for someone like you" to come back from the dark side.
