How many mini-Wunderbars can one safely eat in one sitting while pre-Halloween binge-watching Ash vs Evil Dead? Asking for a friend, who, vaguely related, couldn’t be more excited about the following show announcements.

      Anciients

One of Vancouver’s most enduring metal acts rewinds back the beginning with a show celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their debut full-length Heart of Oak. Start here in the pit: “Hear me now/See the sunrise/Walk upon the Earth”. And don’t forget to buckle up for “Faith and Oath”.

      Where: Rickshaw Theatre

      When: December 28

      Tickets: Rickshaw Theatre

      Jimmy Brown

While his mom still calls him Lee Ji Won, his fans know Jimmy Brown as Korea’s prime purveyor of silky and soulful R&B who’s making his first-ever swing through North America. Given the huge-overseas-artist-plays-smallish-venue angle, expect love-struck screaming, mass fainting, and possibly at least a couple hundred turned-down marriage proposals.

      When: November 16

      Tickets: MODO LIVE

      ISOxo

Endorsed by legends from Skrillex to Alison Wonderland, San Diego trap up-and-comer ISOxo hits the road in support of this year’s kidsgonemad!. Drop the bass. No, seriously, drop the motherfucking bass—right after you’ve warned everyone to duck and cover.

      Ryan Beatty

Once seen as a boy-band-brand pop star for the post-TikTok generation, Ryan Beatty blossoms into something much more on his country-tinted latest, Calico. Which is to say, yes, he now not only drives a truck since coming out on 2018’s Boy in Jeans, but is legitimately proud of it.

      Where: Commodore Ballroom

      When: March 10, 2024

      Tickets: Timbre

      Jeremie Albino

Mixing blues, country, and rockabilly, Toronto’s Jeremie Albino sounds more American than rural America on his new sophomore album Tears You Hide. And, yes, as sure as Uncle Tupelo is still missed to this day, that’s meant as a high compliment.
