Looking at this week’s show announcements, we have one question: is that the woman from the “Shake It Off” song?

And, if it is, remember that episode of Family Guy when Peter Griffin meets her and then says, “Hi. Peter Griffin—leering dad. Quick question: in ‘Shake It Off’, you invite us to get down to, quote, ‘this sick beat.’ Yet the beat you then provide is rather mild. My question is this: may I lick your legs?”

      Northern Lights Tour

Is headliner BONES best slotted under hip-hop, emo-rap, trap-metal, or none of the above? Northern Lights Tour mates Eddy Baker and Xavier Wulf are probably best qualified to answer that, and, because no one likes labels...

      DJ Shadow

Here’s something that’s kind of mind-warping—the pioneering drum and bass DJ known as Joshua Paul Davis is four years away from what’s commonly known as Freedom 55. And having just released his seventh full-length Action Adventure, he’s still cooler than your dad (something that’s been the case since the mid-’90s).

      Where: Vogue Theatre

      When: January 23, 2024

      Tickets: MRG

      Sam Barber

The brilliance of Sam Barber isn’t that he was born and raised on a farm in rural Southern Missouri. It’s more that, on his viral hit “Straight and Narrow”, and debut album Million Eyes, he sounds like he was born and raised on a farm in rural Southern Missouri.

      Taylor Swift

Apparently she’s a thing, which might explain how she’s somehow able to play a 54,000-capacity venue three nights in a row.

      Where: BC Place

      Tickets: Live Nation

      Feist

As difficult as this might be for some folks to understand, she’s not just that singer from the iPod commercial. And even if she was, here’s a shortlist of artists from the Apple commercial: Daniel Johnston, Portugal. The Man, Major Lazer, Yael Naim, Daft Punk, Chairlift, and Tuvan throat-singers Yat-Kha. Greatness loves company, which is why a second Feist show was added after the first sold out immediately.
