Rolling Stone is reporting that Taylor Hawkins had concerns about the touring schedule of the Foo Fighters before his death in late March.

In a story written by Andy Greene and Kory Grow, drummer Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam is quoted as saying that Hawkins told him that he was having trouble meeting the physical demands of three-hour shows. The 50-year-old Hawkins had been with the Foo Fighters since the band was founded by Dave Grohl in the mid-’90s.

“He had a heart-to-heart with Dave and, yeah, he told me that he ‘couldn’t fucking do it anymore’—those were his words,” Cameron says in the article. “So I guess they did come to some understanding, but it just seems like the touring schedule got even crazier after that.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith meanwhile is quoted as saying that, after collapsing on a plane last December, Hawkins told him: “I can’t do it like this anymore.”

While members of Hawkins family, former bandmates, and Foo Fighters management were contacted for comment on the story, all declined. Foo Fighters reps do, however, dispute that the incident on the plane, as well as others cited in the article, ever happened.

Hawkins died at his hotel before a Foo Fighters concert near Bogatá, Colombia on March 25 after complaining of chest pains.

While the official cause of death hasn't been disclosed, a preliminary forensic report by Colombia's attorney general's office said a toxicology test found 10 substances, including THC, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and opioids in his urine.
