Councillor Heather Deal is soldiering on for Vision Vancouver.

While everyone else is leaving, from the mayor to her other colleagues in council, Deal will continue the fight for the city’s ruling party.

The only one to be left of the current Vision team at city hall, Deal will not only seek another term in council in the October 20 civic election.

The four-term councillor will also lead Vision’s council slate of five candidates.

Vision will choose four other candidates from among eight contenders on July 8 at the Creekside Community Centre.

In alphabetical order, the aspirants are Diego Cardona, former Vision council candidate in last year’s by-election; Ken Clement, an incumbent trustee with the Vancouver school board; Coco Culbertson, a senior manager with the Portland Hotel Society; Catherine Evans, a current park board commissioner; Tanya Paz, an advocate for active transportation; Michael Samson, business leader; Margot Sangster, public health professional; and Wei Qiao Zhang, an assistant to a Vancouver MP.

“With Ian Campbell as our Mayoral candidate, we are presenting a new Vision team to Vancouver voters - a team that will put forward new ideas for a progressive agenda this fall,” Vision co-chair Michael Haack said in a Vision news release.

Vision Mayor Gregor Robertson as well as councillors Kerry Jang, Raymond Louie, Andrea Reimer, and Tim Stevenson are not running in the fall election.
