As investigators are still searching for answers one year after the murder of a 19-year-old male in Surrey, the victim's mother appealed to the public for help.

Shortly after 5 a.m. on August 20, 2017, Surrey RCMP were notified about an altercation in the 6900 block of 127A Street.

When police arrived at the scene, they found 19-year-old Tanner Krupa dead in an alleyway. Investigators determined he had been murdered.

During the investigation, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) learned that several males were involved in the conflict leading to Krupa's death.

Investigators believe that some of these male individuals were witnesses but did not participate in the assault and may be associated with a white Toyota Corolla and a white Honda Civic that were captured on video surveillance footage.

Anyone with information about these vehicles, or about what happened to Krupa, is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Krupa had moved from Edmonton to the Lower Mainland in July 2017.

In a video recording uploaded today (August 21), Krupa's mother spoke about her son and made a plea to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
