U.S. president Donald Trump seemed like his usual self at the G7 summit today in Biarritz, France.

He chatted with Justin Trudeau and appeared before the cameras.

But back in America, Trump's challengers for the 2020 Republican presidential nomination are questioning his fitness to govern.

"He's nuts. He's erratic. He's cruel. He stokes bigotry. He's incompetent," declared Joe Walsh in an ABC This Week interview with George Stephanopoulos.

Walsh, a radio host and former Republican Congressman, entered the GOP presidential sweepstakes today.

His comments came on the same day that Axios reported that Trump had proposed using nuclear weapons to stop hurricanes from hitting the United States.

Walsh also told Stephanopoulos that it "should be looked at" whether Trump should be removed from office under the 25th amendment to the U.S. constitution.

This section allows the vice president to immediately succeed the president if a majority of cabinet secretaries believe the president is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office".

In addition, Walsh said that people can't believe a word Trump says, calling him a narcissist.

Another potential challenger for the Republican presidential nomination is Bill Weld, a former governor of Massachussetts.

"That a POTUS [president of the United States] would ever utter the words 'American companies are hereby ordered...' is outrageous," Weld tweeted this weekend. "That he believes he can actually carry out such an outrage is the insanity of a would-be dicator."

Over Twitter, Weld has also called Trump "a clear and present danger" to the United States, adding the hashtags #AmericaDeservesBetter and #25thAmendment.
