A B.C. Civil Resolution Tribunal has resolved a dispute over a candidate’s expenses in the 2018 Vancouver municipal election.

Tribunal member Trisha Apland has ordered Jamie Lee Hamilton, founder and financial officer of the IDEA Vancouver, to reimburse Barbara Anderson, who ran for school board under the party.

Anderson claimed that she spent $2,562.54 for campaign flyers and other expenses.

She also contended that Hamilton promised to pay her back, but never did.

Apland related in her reasons for decision that Hamilton denied Anderson’s claims.

Even so, Hamilton declared that IDEA Vancouver has only $400 in the bank, which she can pay Anderson.

“On a judgment basis, given the respondent’s agreement to pay $400, I order her to do so,” Apland wrote.

With $4.66 in pre-judgment interest, plus $80.54 in tribunal and dispute-related fees, the award comes to $485.20.

Anderson got 13,682 votes, which wasn’t enough to get her into the winning circle.
