Update: The shooting victim died, according to Delta police. The original story appears below.

A man was shot late this afternoon near a gas station at 72nd Avenue and 120th Street in North Delta.

The incident occurred at Scottsdale Centre, which is on the southwest corner of the intersection.

“Right now the initial evidence is indicating that this was a targeted shooting,” Delta police Insp. Guy Leeson said in a news release. “Officers have been interviewing witnesses in the area, and we are also in possession of video that appears to have been filmed immediately after the incident."

Police will not disclose the condition of the victim or his name.

Video shows a man in a black hoodie running away from the scene and getting in the rear seat of an SUV.

“This shooting took place in a very public manner, and we are very much aware of the possible risk to innocent bystanders,” Leeson said. “Fortunately it doesn’t appear there was anyone else injured during this incident, but we ask those who might have any information to contact police.”

Anyone with dashcam video is being asked to contact Delta police.
