Lower Mainland gang conflict: Public-safety warning about Abbotsford man, Vancouver police search for two suspects

      Both Abbotsford and Vancouver police issued bulletins today (July 16) about individuals associated with the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict.

      One case is a public-safety warning and the other is a search for two suspects who are wanted nation-wide.

      Abbotsford

      The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) issued an alert today (July 16) stating that “compelling circumstances exist to issue a warning that Jason Himpfen poses a significant risk to the safety of the community and anyone who may be associated with him”.

      AbbyPD states that the 45-year-old Himpfen is involved in the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

      Himpfen is described as being 178 centimetres (five-feet, 10-inches) tall and weighs 91 kilograms (200 pounds). He has hazel eyes and short dark hair, and he frequently wears a full beard.

      Anyone who sees Himpfen in a public place is advised to first leave the area and then call AbbyPD at 604-859-5225.

      Also related to the gang conflict, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) announced today that officers are seeking to locate two men who wanted Canada-wide for conspiracy to commit murder, possession of stolen property and firearm charges.

      VPD spokesperson Tania Visintin stated in a news release that both individuals are believe to be linked to the Lower Mainland gang conflict and that the charges arise from Taskforce Tourniquet, which was launched in 2017 to zero in on four major crime groups in Metro Vancouver. (The VPD had announced on July 9 that 27 individuals had been convicted as a result of various projects by the taskforce.)

      The two suspects are 47-year-old Romano Martodihardjo and 25-year-old Moeen Khan.

      Martodihardjo is described as having a medium-coloured complexion (his ethnicity was not stated), is 165 centimetres (five-feet, five-inches tall) and about 77 kilograms (170 pounds).  He has short shaved hair and brown eyes. In addition, he has a tattoo on his chest of a mermaid and a tattoo with the word “purdy” on his upper left arm. 

      Martodihardjo is wanted for possession of stolen property under $5,000, occupying a vehicle with a firearm, and possession of a firearm with ammunition.

      He was last known to be in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

      Moeen Khan described as a South Asian male who is 173 centimetres (five-feet, eight inches) tall and weighs about 82 kilograms (180 pounds).

      He has short black hair and a black beard. He has “my brother’s keeper” tattooed across his chest.

      He is wanted for conspiracy to commit murder, and he was last known to be in Pakistan.

      Anyone who sees Martodihardjo or Khan, or knows of their whereabouts, is asked to call 911 immediately.
