A convict has started off the new year on the wrong foot by going missing and subsequently being wanted Canada-wide.

Chad Patrick Poitras is a 33-year-old federal offender who did not return to his Vancouver halfway-house on New Year's Eve (December 31).

Poitras has been serving the remaining portion of his two-and-a-half year sentence in a Corrections Canada community residential facility located in Vancouver.

He has been convicted of several crimes that involved assaults, weapons, drugs, and driving offences.

Poitras is described as an Indigenous male who is 178 centimeres (five-feet, 10-inches) tall and weighs 100 kilograms (220 pounds).

He has short, reddish-brown hair and is clean shaven. He also has several tattoos, including a scorpion on the right side of his neck.

Anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
