Woman reports violent morning carjacking in Richmond

      The Mounties in Richmond have released details about a brazen crime in the 5000 block of Walton Road.

      A woman in her 40s reported that she was confronted by a suspect in dark clothing as she was about to start the engine of her 2007 Toyota SUV.

      "The suspect allegedly produced a weapon and used it to smash a window," the RCMP stated in a news release. "The suspect then fled in the vehicle leaving the woman behind."

      The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the carjacking and was taken to hospital.

      The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m.

      Less than an hour and a half later, the vehicle was found by Vancouver police near Boundary Road and Hastings.

      A 28-year-old male from Delta and a 21-year-old female from Pitt Meadows have been arrested and turned over to the Richmond RCMP.

      No names have been released.
