Vehicle Numbers Rise

The Greater Vancouver Regional District has reported that vehicle ownership continues rising faster than the rate of population growth in the region.

According to the 2003 annual report of the GVRD's Livable Region Strategic Plan, there were 1,269,962 licensed vehicles in Greater Vancouver in January 2003.

That was a 4.6-percent increase over the previous year, compared with annual population growth of approximately 1.1 percent.
