A dramatic scene unfolded in Langley today (September 11) when a train ran into an ambulance at 216 Street and Glover Road.

"Holy sh*t!! Just saw a train hit an ambulance!! I hope everyone is ok!!!... More ambulances on the way. Doesn't look good," Surrey resident Jennifer Pratt, who shot a photo of the scene, posted on Facebook.

Langley RCMP said two air ambulances were on their way to the crash site.

"Roads are closed in all directions at that location so motorists are asked to consider alternate routes for the time being. Please note, this is the intersection at Milner where 216 becomes Crush Crescent as it crosses Glover Road," police said in a statement.

"CP Rail is now on scene to assist with the investigation."

Update (1 p.m.): This just in from Langley RCMP...

Two people have now been airlifted from the scene of the collision at 216 Street and Glover Road.  The attendant in the rear of the ambulance is currently in stable condition and the patient being transported is said to be suffering from life threatening injuries.

The driver of the ambulance is suffering from some back pain but is otherwise uninjured. No personnel on the train sustained any injuries.

The train was northbound at the time of the collision and due to its’ shear length, Langley ByPass at Glover Road is also closed to traffic.

ICARS is en route to assist with the investigation.  The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
