Honker

Sometimes when there is a green bicycle box in front of both the left turn and right turn lanes at a T-intersection, it is there so that bicyclists can press the crossing button on the right-hand side of the road, then move left so they can make a left-hand turn. So when I do just that, you honk at me, I reply "Don't you know what the green box is for?", and you go "Bloorrb bloorrb bloorrb", it only makes me want to say, "Sorry, I didn't know you were mentally handicapped."

Great ignorance. Way to bring up a completely different topic.

I don't know if drivers realize how threatening that stuff is, but it's really the government's fault for failing to educate the users of these dangerous and powerful machines on how to use them around the rest of road users.

Look at the bikepath by scienceworl: 7000+ riders in a DAY and no traffic light needed.

Maybe we need to legalize monster truck use a couple times a week for cyclists to bring context to things into context for drivers as to how terrifying and dangerous

Lapse in judgement or awareness can be, and how deadly ignorance of proper road sharing techniques are.

This is not directed at the OP, but in fairness, in addition to the "Bad Drivers of Vancouver" videos on youtube, there should also be a "Bad Bicyclers of Vancouver" as well.

Drivers may not be educated in the green box rule, but bicyclers breaking rules are deliberately doing it because they KNOW the rules. Red light means stop. It does not mean slow down, check for cross traffic, then go. The sidewalk is for pedestrians. Pedestrians have the right of way. It's pretty obvious when one sees a huge sign that says "Bicyclers must dismount and walk..." yet nobody seems to do it.

If we drove cars the same way we ride bicycles, there would be a LOT more people killed.

As a pedestrian, I'd like to see cars actually give pedestrians the right of way like you say. I have been almost hit way more times walking in Vancouver (without ipod, watching for cars) than I can count.

There are bad cyclists and there are bad drivers, but as a pedestrian I have never been more cautious in my life, and not because of the bad cyclists.

The word 'handicapped' is seriously old-school and wrong. It's person with a disability or it's differently abled. See you in Hell.
