Rain City Recorders moves into new digs

The future’s looking golden for Rain City Recorders owners Jesse Gander and Stu McKillop, who move their business into the esteemed Greenhouse Studios next month. The producers recently announced that they’ll be leaving their current facility on March 6 to take over Greenhouse’s A Room.

The move will come with an upgrade to the duo’s recording equipment, and McKillop estimates they will have about four times more space in the new spot. Despite the fact that Greenhouse has hosted recording sessions for bigger acts like Nickelback and Sarah McLachlan, Rain City’s less solvent indie clientele will be able to afford studio time.

“I’m just glad that we can give better quality for pretty much the same price. Being able to give people a better recording, that was number one for us,” McKillop told the Straight. “We were very happy to stay where we were, but we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give better-quality recordings.”

The Pack A.D. will be one of the first outfits Gander works with in Rain City’s new location. McKillop is handling business duties next month, but also mixing the debut full-length by his Youth Decay project.
