Justin Timberlake and Jay Z at B.C. Place

When you think about it, Justin Timberlake should have exactly zero hip-hop cred. A former Mickey Mouse Club cast member who spent the latter half of the ’90s in a boy band?

On paper, Timberlake is about as close to white bread as it’s possible for a human being to get. But, against all odds, the guy has made sufficient inroads into the rap world—by working with the likes of Timbaland, T.I., and Snoop Dogg—to find himself coheadlining a stadium tour with arguably the game’s biggest star.

For proof that Timberlake knows his shit, fire up your YouTube machine and check out one of the “History of Rap” medleys he has performed with Jimmy Fallon—which, naturally, have included a couple of songs by Jay-Z (from back when he still had a hyphen). Timberlake and Jay Z’s Legends of the Summer tour hits B.C. Place on Wednesday (July 31). It’ll be the greatest pop/rap crossover ever, at least until Kanye West teams up with Joey Fatone.
