The Grand Cariboo Opry returns to the Vogue Theatre for its ninth edition on Saturday (November 22). Event chair Heather O’Hara is in a good position to talk to the Straight about the Opry’s success. She was executive director at the Potluck Café Society—the event’s beneficiary—when Barney Bentall cofounded the Opry in 2006. “With this ninth year, we’re gonna net over $250,000 in funds raised for our charitable programs,” O’Hara said, adding that “we sell more tickets every year, and this year’s no exception.”

And how about special guests? In 2013, 54-40’s Neil Osborne joined Bentall’s regular cast of Ridley Bent, Dustin Bentall, Wendy Bird, Kendel Carson, and Matt Masters for some down-home music. “I’m sure Barney’s got something up his sleeve,” said O’Hara.

Shall we call it a delicious surprise, then? “Yeah, totally!”
