Victoria’s much-loved Rifflandia music and arts festival is moving to a new location at Matullia Lands at Rock Bay.

Established in 2008, the Vancouver Island blowout regularly held its annual celebration at Victoria’s Royal Athletic Park and other select venues around the city, bringing together crowds and legendary musical acts such as Iggy Pop, Run The Jewels, Lorde, Moby, Charlie XCX, Post Malone, and Courtney Love.

This year, the festival will take place from September 13 to 15 at its new location in an all-ages, one-site, and one-weekend model. The development comes after two previous years of having the festival’s Electric Avenue on the Matullia Lands.

As of yet, the music and arts celebration—now simply billed as Rifflandia Festival—has not released its lineup.

“We are honoured to work alongside the team at Matullia to bring this new vision and multi-year plan to life,” says Nick Blasko, president & CEO of Rifflandia Entertainment Co, in a release. “For the past 17 years, Rifflandia has served a diverse and creative music-forward community, and throughout that time we have always maintained a spirit of reinvention. Innovation is what drives us as we continue to present the best live music experiences in Victoria.”

Operations manager at Matullia Holdings John Rice shared his excitement for the new move as well.

“The lands at Rock Bay have served as an important gathering point for generations,” he says in a statement, “and we look forward to continuing and building on this powerful cultural legacy.”
