Virtual-Vancouver hosts live, on-line art auction

The work of Vancouver painters, photographers, sculptors, and jewelry designers will be auctioned off at the Virtual-Vancouver Art Gallery Artist Showcase on April 9.

The free-entry, sealed-bid art auction and showcase will take place at the Roundhouse Community Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews), exposing Vancouver artists to an expanding global market. The evening will include door prizes, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar serving beer and wine, and a “virtual” DJ streaming live.

The event will also be held on Virtual-Vancouver.com’s on-line gallery, part of a virtual world claiming 2.5 million registered users.

“The event is meant to give artists an idea of how they can use online outlets to market their art and build relationships and client bases,” said Brian Shuster, CEO of Virtual-Vancouver.com parent company Utherverse Inc. in a press release.

The on-line venue hosts a wide range of art galleries, where local artists have been able to promote and sell their work, while interacting with on-line customers in real-time.
