B.C. Liberal Margaret MacDiarmid takes Vancouver-Fairview from NDP

A former B.C. Medical Association president, Dr. Margaret MacDiarmid, has won in her second attempt in Vancouver-Fairview.

With 36 of 141 ballot boxes reporting, MacDiarmid has a 700-vote lead over incumbent MDP MLA Jenn McGinn, a small-business banker at Vancity.

McGinn won a by-election last October over MacDiarmid.

In 2005, businessman and future mayor Gregor Robertson won the seat for the NDP. His predecessor was Gary Collins, a former B.C. Liberal finance minister.

McGinn ran an absolutely terrible and non-existent campaign.

I am so happy McGinn did not win.
She's excel at nothing but personal attack.
Never really heard any policy talks that made sense from her.
The only reason the Straight endorsed her is probably because she's gay.

The question to be asking is why didn't she have the machinery to win the bi-election? Jenn McGinn should never have one in the first place since she clearly is not in the same league as Margaret MacDiarmid.

That said, MacDiarmid barely had the machinery on the ground to justify a win this time. Fortunately, she had the air war support she needed.
