It's been a day that the people of Egypt—and indeed people around the world—may never forget.

After eight days of protest, Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak announced today (February 1) he will not seek reelection but would not step down immediately.

This came as more than a million people poured on to the streets for mass demonstrations in Cairo and other cities in the country.
