Premier Christy Clark has announced a minor cabinet shuffle.

As of today (September 26), Stephanie Cadieux is the minister of social development.

Former education minister Margaret MacDiarmid is back in cabinet, taking over Cadieux's old position as minister of labour, citizen services and open government.

Harry Bloy, who had been minister of social development and minister responsible for multiculturalism, becomes minister of state for multiculturalism.

As well, Ron Cantelon becomes parliamentary secretary for seniors to the minister of health,Gordon Hogg is now parliamentary secretary for non-profit partnerships to the minister of social development,Donna Barnett is parliamentary secretary for rural communities to the minister of community, sport and cultural development, andRichard Lee is parliamentary secretary for Asia-Pacific to the minister of jobs, tourism and innovation.

According to NDP Leader Adrian Dix, Clark showed poor judgement by putting Bloy in cabinet in the first place.

“Premier Clark has mismanaged the Ministry of Social Development. Today's announcement highlights her utter failure to protect developmentally disabled adults and their families,” Dix said in a statement today.

Dix added, “Harry Bloy continues to be rewarded with a lesser cabinet position while these vulnerable individuals continue to pay the price."

Bloy was the only sitting MLA to endorse Clark's successful B.C. Liberal leadership bid.
