Ian Wallace headlines Audain Art Museum's first Tuesday Night Talk

      Ian Wallace, a major figure in the Vancouver School of photo conceptualism, appears tonight (May 5) as the Audain Art Museum moves into the virtual realm during COVID-19 lockdown.

      The internationally acclaimed artist will discuss the pivotal work Who Will I Become of 2010.

      The live Zoom discussion, hosted by gallery director and chief curator Curtis Collins, launches the new Tuesday Night Talks, aimed at learning about key works in the Audain's permanent collection directly from the artist.

      The talk takes place at 8 p.m. PST (11 p.m. EST). You can register here. Viewers can submit questions to Wallace as part of the interactive format.

      Wallace is well-known for his work in photography, sculpture, painting, and film. He is also recognized for his influential role in creating and evolving the photo-conceptualism movement that developed in Vancouver in the 1970s and 1980s, closely associating with artists such as Jeff Wall, Rodney Graham, Stan Douglas, and Ken Lum.. (He wrote reviews for the Straight in the early days of his career.) He was named to the Order of Canada in 2012.
