Cool down with a pressé cocktail at MARKET by Jean-Georges

There’s the occasional sound of jackhammers working away on the construction site across the street, but don’t let that deter you from visiting the patio at MARKET by Jean-Georges (1115 Alberni Street) located on the second floor of the Shangri-La Hotel.

On Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m., the upscale restaurant hosts the Pressé Summer Series. The weekly event, which launched July 26, features pressé cocktails—a blend of vodka, fresh-pressed juice, sugar, and club soda. Complimentary appetizers, such as rice cracker-crusted tuna, steelhead sashimi, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s signature truffle pizza, are served until 6 p.m.

Despite the rumble of street traffic and construction below, the patio at MARKET—which is completely covered, in case this streak of summer weather decides to end—is remarkably serene. Diners can relax against plush sofa-style seats at lounge tables scattered across the terrace or street-view high-tops perfect for people watching. Tunes from a guest DJ each week help reinforce end-of-the-work-week celebrations.

The Pressé Summer Series runs until September 13.
